Announcement regarding the reopening of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to the USA
The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to the USA informs that, starting with Monday, July 13, 2020, the program with the public at the Consular Section of the Embassy will be gradually resumed, with the establishment of certain preventive measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic (coronavirus) in order to protect citizens from the epidemiological risk and subject to the conditions described below.
Thus, the following consular services will be resumed for which the presence of applicants at the consular section is required:
1) issuance of passports and / or identity cards,
2) issuance of emergency travel documents (also possible by mail),
3) notary acts (powers of attorney, declarations).
The consular services listed above will be performed EXCLUSIVELY ON THE BASIS OF AN APPOINTMENT, which can be done online by accessing the following link:
Depending on the epidemiological situation in the USA, the Embassy will inform latter about the time of the full resumption of appointments for all types of consular services.
We remind you about the possibility to request some consular services by mail, without travelling to the Embassy (for emergency travel documents, transcription of civil status documents, criminal record certificates, requesting duplicates of civil status documents from Moldova, entry visas for the Republic Moldova).
ATTENTION! All applicants for consular services will permanently wear protective gloves and masks while entering and inside the building of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Washington, D.C. In order to avoid any danger of contracting the virus in the procedure of filling in / signing the forms, each applicant for consular services will bring and use his/her own pen.
Only the persons who have registered for an appointment online will have access inside the consular section. Accompanying persons of those who have registered for an appointment are NOT allowed to enter the consular section. All applicants for consular services will maintain the social distance necessary to avoid contamination with the new coronavirus.
All applicants for consular services shall comply with the above-mentioned conditions, as well as to respect strictly the day and time for which they registered for an appointment at the consular section.
We ask each applicant for consular services to have, upon arrival at the Embassy, all the necessary documents in original, depending on the requested service. The list of required documents can be consulted on the Embassy's website https://sua.mfa.gov.md/ chapter "Consular services".
If you show signs of illness close to the day of your appointment, please refrain from travelling to the Embassy and reschedule your visit, using the same online link for appointments. If during the consular service you show symptoms of illness, the consular officer will stop providing the service and you will be asked to leave the Embassy`s premises, with rescheduling your visit for another time.

In case of exceptional situations (accidents with victims, deaths, natural disasters and other situations of danger or of an extraordinary character) the citizens can call the emergency telephone line of the Embassy +1 202 390 03 92. At this number NO appointments are made and NO consular information is provided.
